ATAP is a the country’s leading non-profit professional association for preventing mass shootings and other forms of targeted violence. Our organization provides training and professional networking to law enforcement, corporate threat assessment teams, school/university threat assessment teams, prosecutors, mental health and behavioral science professionals, threat assessment expert consultants, and other disciplines engaged in preventing targeted violence. ATAP offers scholarships to full time law enforcement officers to attend the Threat Management Conference and Winter Conference who have not previously attended our conferences. The purpose of this award is offer threat assessment training opportunities to law enforcement, and introduce them to ATAP and its network of professionals. The scholarship funds cover the officer's conference registration, hotel, and travel expenses. Both ATAP members and non-members are eligible for the scholarship. Scholarships are awarded by two categories: financial need and merit.

The ATAP Dr. Chris Hatcher/Dr. Jim Turner Memorial Student Scholarship is awarded each year at the Threat Management Conference to students in the upper level undergraduate (Junior or Senior) or graduate level program. The purpose of the award is to spur interest at the student level in topics related to workplace violence, stalking, communicated threats, and other threat assessment topics. The scholarship funds cover the student's conference registration, hotel, and travel expenses. The award is named in memoriam of ATAP members Dr. Chris Hatcher and Dr. Jim Turner, whose work in threat assessment and workplace violence recognized the importance of social science and criminal justice research, and its application to the developing threat assessment field.
