“Challenges of a University Threat Assessment Team” - University Threat Assessment Teams usually are given a small piece of information and then need to piece together an understanding of the student while managing multiple obstacles (i.e., no previous relationship with the student, lack of K-12 information, reluctant family members and friends, and concerns but no actual behavior). In addition, university TATs manage hundreds of referrals each year ranging from distress to suicide ideation to threat to others. This session will provide an overview of the University of Connecticut’s threat assessment process which will include a discussion on the challenges of threat assessment on a university campus.

“Intimate Partner Violence on Campus” – Intimate Partner Violence is one of the most common forms of violence. About 1 in 4 women will be sexually assaulted before the end of their college career. And, about 90% of survivors on a college campus know the person who assaulted them. This session will discuss IPV and the particular issues faced on a college campus.

Meeting space provided by UConn Police Department;

Lunch provided by UConn Department of Community Standards and the Department of Counseling and Mental Health Services.
