Privacy Policy

Welcome to www.atapworldwide.org ("Website") of the Association of Threat Assessment Professional ("ATAP"), a non-profit professional membership association.

ATAP understands that privacy online is important to users and members of our Website, especially when conducting business, and is therefore committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information with which it is entrusted.

This statement governs our privacy policies with respect to those users of the Website ("Visitors") who visit without transacting business or joining membership and Visitors who register to transact business ("Authorized Customers") or join membership ("Members") on the Website and make use of the various services offered by ATAP or www.atapworldwide.org (collectively, "Services").

"Personally Identifiable Information" refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains, including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, credit card information, or employer information. Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously (that is, without identification of the individual user) or demographic information not connected to an identified individual.

What Personally Identifiable Information is collected?

We may collect basic user profile information from all of our Visitors. We may collect the following additional information from our Authorized Customers/Members: names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, as well as the basic employment information such as company name, address, and telephone number.

How does the Website use Personally Identifiable Information?

We use Personally Identifiable Information to customize the Website, to make appropriate service offerings, and to fulfill purchase requests on the Website. We may email Visitors and/or Authorized Customers/Members about membership or purchase opportunities on the Website or any other information related to the subject matter of the Website. We may also use Personally Identifiable Information to contact Visitors and Authorized Customers/Members in response to specific inquiries, or to provide requested information.

With whom may the information be shared?

Authorized Customer/Member information shall not be used or disclosed, for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes. ATAP will never furnish or sell Authorized Customer/Member information to any third parties unless explicitly granted permission by the Authorized Customer/Member.

How is Personally Identifiable Information stored?

Personally Identifiable Information collected by ATAP or www.atapworldwide.org is securely stored and is not accessible to third parties or other ATAP members or representatives except for use as indicated above.

What choices are available to Visitors regarding collection, use and distribution of the information?

Visitors and Authorized Customers/Members may "opt out" of receiving unsolicited information or otherwise being contacted by ATAP. These requests can be satisfied by responding to emails as instructed, or by contacting us at info@atapworldwide.org.

Are "Cookies" used on the Website?

Cookies are used for a variety of reasons. We use Cookies to obtain information about the preferences of our Visitors and the services they select. We also use Cookies for security purposes to protect our Authorized Customers/Members. For example, if a Member is logged on and the Website is unused for a prescribed duration of time, the Member will automatically be logged out of the system. At no time are Cookies used for personal identification purposes and furnished to any third party vendors.

How does ATAP or www.atapworldwide.org use login information?

ATAP or www.atapworldwide.org uses login information, including, but not limited to, IP addresses, Internet Service Provider data, and operating system or browser types, to administer the Website, track a user's movement and use on the Website, and to ensure Website security.

What about the disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information to comply with law?

We will disclose Personally Identifiable Information in order to comply with a court order, subpoena, or search warrant request from a law enforcement agency to release information. We may also disclose Personally Identifiable Information when reasonably necessary to protect the safety of our Authorized Customers/Members.

How does the Website keep Personally Identifiable Information secure?

The Personally Identifiable Information of our Visitors and Authorized Customers/Members is only accessible to a limited number of qualified ATAP representatives who are provided password details in order to gain access to the information. Sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, is protected by encryption protocols put in place to secure information sent over the Internet. While we take commercially reasonable measures to maintain a secure Website in compliance with federal guidelines and requirements, electronic communications and databases are subject to errors, tampering or other compromises, and we cannot guarantee or warrant that such events will not take place and therefore will not be liable to Visitors or Authorized Customers/Members for any such occurrences.

How can Visitors correct any inaccuracies in Personally Identifiable Information?

Visitors and Authorized Customers/Members may contact us to update Personally Identifiable Information about them or to correct any inaccuracies by emailing us at info@atapworldwide.org.

Can a Visitor delete or deactivate Personally Identifiable Information collected by the Website?

We provide Visitors and Authorized Customers/Members with a mechanism to delete/deactivate Personally Identifiable Information from the Website's database by contacting info@atapworldwide.org. However, because of backups and records of deletions, it may be impossible to delete a Visitor's or Authorized Customer's/Member's entry without retaining some residual information. An individual who requests to have Personally Identifiable Information deactivated will have this information functionally deleted, and we will not sell, transfer, or use Personally Identifiable Information relating to that individual in any way moving forward.

What happens if the Privacy Policy Changes?

We will let our Visitors and Authorized Customers/Members know about changes to our privacy policy by posting such changes on the Website. However, if we are changing our privacy policy in a manner that might cause disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information that a Visitor or Authorized Customer/Member has previously requested not be disclosed, we will contact such Visitor or Authorized Customer/Member to allow such Visitor or Authorized Customer/Member to prevent such disclosure.
