Association of Threat Assessment Professionals
The 2016 ATAP Threat Management Conference is coming soon and promises to be the most diverse and relevant session we've ever offered. Today's threat assessment professional faces multiple demands, such as managing traditional threats of targeted violence while confronting the new and growing potential for violent extremism perpetrated by radicalized offenders.Add to that the ever-evolving world of cyber and social media exploitation; the detection of insider threats; and the role of intelligence analysis in threat assessment....and it's suddenly easy to feel overwhelmed.
Fortunately, ATAP's Threat Management Conference will address the multiple, current challenges faced by threat managers and help to prepare you for the issues you face each day. We're bringing together international subject matter experts, practitioners, and thought leaders in Anaheim this August to provide in-depth analyses of the challenges and to offer the most current strategies for addressing them. Here's a sampling of some of the titles that will be featured this year:
Pathways to Extremist Violence: A Guide for Pracitioners - John Horgan, Ph.D. and Mia Bloom, Ph.D., Georgia State University
San Bernardino Shooting: Lessons Learned - Chief Jarrod Burguan, San Bernardino Police Department
Federal Engagement on Stalking Cases - Cari Robins, F.B.I.
Saboteur, Spy, Scammer and Shooter: Potential Indicators of Malicious Insiders with a Focus on Workplace Violence and IT Sabotage - Tracy Cassidy, CERT Insider Threat Center
The Antisocial Network: Preventing Violence Using a Multidisciplinary Approach to Gathering and Acting Upon Digital Data - Glenn Lipson, Ph.D., and Summer Stephan, Chief Deputy District Attorney, San Diego
